Notes:
P.G.R. is an achronym of Per Grazia Ricevuta (For a Received Grace). Beyond to the dangers of navigation great were also the incidents involved with the work in shipyard during the construction or also the repair of the boats. In many cases, like in the offer of 1865 by captain Lavarello conserved in the Sanctuary of the Boschetto (table 20, inv. Costa n. 49), particular attention is given to the descriptive precision of the hull. In this painting the author, also evidencing the incident on the job in foreground, take also care of the ambiance of the sea where some sailships are maneuvering. |
