The crew of the "Giorgina" saved in the Adriatic Sea

Caption:

        "Brig Giorgina, Capt.n Michelangelo Ferro. - the crew made the offer to the Holy Mary of Boschetto and for Her Grace all were saved. Being in the Adriatic Sea; the 12th November 1865". 

Notes:

Unfortunately anonymous this painting, perhaps of more naïf hand regarding the other conserved in the Sanctuary, but however of a strongly determined personality.

That can also be recognized in the next painting (table 54, inv. Costa nr. 50) for the homogeneity of sky portrayal, for the yield of the sea violence and for the type of chromatic range employed. 

In order perhaps to satisfy an inferior ability in tracing the figure, the image of the Madonna is cut out, watercolored and therefore glued. 

In the Maritime Museum of Camogli another painting representing this boat is conserved (Velieri di Camogli, Genoa 1984, p. 100) whose captain Michelangelo Ferro was decorated with gold medal for the navy valor by Emperor Napoleon III in order to have saved with this brig, in the Gulf of the Lion in February 1887, the crew of the French ship "Baptiste".
